The new DDI is scheduled to be open before Thanksgiving barring any unforeseen delays such as weather. The exact date will be announced as soon as it is confirmed.

Yes. A Diverging Diamond Interchange will reduce the number of conflict points from the existing 26 down to 14.  Most importantly, the more severe collision types (crossing/T-bone) are reduced from 10 down to 2.

Not in this case. For the SR 120/Union Road DDI the City of Manteca was able to retain the existing bridge over cross structure saving time and money.

The DDI is a cost-effective solution which allows for the project costs to be greatly reduced compared to other interchange types. In the case of the SR 120/Union Road DDI project, the existing bridge to was able to remain.

Yes. The existing overpass does have designated pedestrian and bicycle access. The new interchange will provide a Class I shared-use path and Class II bike lanes. The new Class I path will provide a 10-foot wide grade-separated trail that eliminates all bicycle/vehicle conflict points within the interchange providing safe and efficient passage for bicycles, pedestrians, and other non-motorized travel.  Two sets of stairs are also designed into the project saving pedestrians time in their travel.

No, the new bridge will be wider to accommodate 2 lanes of travel in each direct as well as carry the new separated shared-use path.

Auxiliary lanes will be constructed between Union Road/Airport Way and Union Road/Main Street in both eastbound and westbound directions along State Route 120 to provide for improved traffic flow and lane changing movements.
